A Way.. In A Manger
A Way
“Away In A Manger,” the Christmas carol so widely known over the centuries, was said to have been written by Martin Luther. Whether it was or not, we who celebrate Christmas sing it each year with great awe of the words. But I would like you to look at this a different way.. A Way.. In The Manger.

Hidden
Away in the dictionary means: into an appropriate place for storage or safekeeping. So goes the song written about baby Jesus, that he was away from harm and the elements in a Manger. A bed inside a cave or barn for animals as there was no room for Him in the inn. God had hidden Him, to keep Him safe.
Emmanuel
On that cold, clear, starry night a child was born, but not just any child.. God with us.. Emmanuel. He robed Himself in flesh and made a way for all mankind to be saved. Came to set us free. He is that way.. and He came humbly in a Manger.
No Room
There was no room for Him in the Inn because of the census. Think about it… in the midst of turmoil, upheaval, terror, kingdoms that wanted to crush God’s people, he made A Way. He had a plan and it didn’t make sense. It wasn’t convenient, practical, or even understandable. But God knows better than us.
Faith
Sometimes in life, we see our circumstances, our problems, our disappointments, our sadness, and we succumb to what we see. Joesph and Mary had to walk by faith, not by sight. They had to wait on the Lord and trust Him for His every provision, and they had to believe God for their promises. What did they do?
A Star
They trusted the God of the universe, they moved with fear, and believed God would order their steps. When you are encountering trials today: money is tight, loss of a job, a love one passes, sadness comes, things don’t look like they are working out, remember to look up! His star is shining bright! He will lead you if you let Him, He is the Word, and the word is a light shining like a star for us today!
Marriage
Our marriages have ups and downs, hills and valleys, they have the good times, and they have the bad times. Know the One you put your trust in, and remember He made a Way! If we follow His word, obey it, speak it, live it, we will be walking in the Way! No matter the journey, He will order your steps and lead you to where He wants you to be so you can be blessed!
Scriptures
Monday: Luke 2:12 says, “And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.” The shepherds were given a sign that the Messiah had come! It was the Way for all mankind to be saved!
Tuesday: Luke 2:19 says, “But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.” It was only for certain eyes to see this King.. those who sought for Him. We can still seek Him today. King Herod could have left his throne to find the child, but he left it up to others so he didn’t get to see the new King. God hid Him from danger.. He kept them all from being destroyed, because He had a plan for them.
Wednesday: Matthew 1:23 says, “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” What an amazing God to come humbly and vulnerable to earth as a babe, and live among us as an example!
Thursday: Luke 2:7 “And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manager; because there was no room for them in the inn.” Praying today that whatever upheaval is going on in your world, know God will make room for you, He loves you, and that you will trust His plan!
Friday: Matthew 2:11 says, “And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.” What faith!! What provision! They trusted the Lord to go where He said to go by faith.. and he provided for them while danger was present, and for travel to safety, and finally to keep them until they could set up house! Pray you see Gods provision in every area of your life and are thankful!!
Saturday: Matthew 2:9 says, “When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.” The God of the universe orders our steps… we can always look up.. God is waiting today for you to call on Him and follow Him!
Sunday: John 14:6 says, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Jesus is the way!! He is the only by which we can be saved.. so pray today you know who you serve and follow! If you are following Jesus you can trust He will keep you know matter what!
Prayer
We are praying you look up this week and see the stars and remember a star that led wisemen to the King of Kings in a stable, nestled in humble Manger. Nothing is impossible with God!! Don’t give up now matter how hard the journey ahead looks. God with us.. He is there to lead and guide you! Praying for peace and love to abound in your home!
