Dreaming For Your Marriage

What’s Your Direction

This is the beginning of a New Year, and with it comes challenges, life, death, hopes, and dreams. What are some of the dreams you have for your marriage? Do you know where you are headed together? If you aren’t heading in the same direction, STOP, sit down together and figure out where you are, and where you want to be in a year.

A Year From Now

This marks the first full week of January, and hopefully you have written down some goals and are putting them into practice. But goals are usually the measure of something bigger, maybe a dream you want to fulfill, or a smaller goal for the here and now. But dreaming takes some time, it takes vision, and hopes. A year from now, what does your dream for your marriage look like?

Reality

When you sit down with your spouse and talk about your dreams for the future, reality sets in. I know we personally have a lot of dreams. To finish our home. To give. To be a vessel for the Lord. Some of it is tangible, and some is unseen. But reality always lets us know when those can happen, it says, you have to pay off things first, or put some money away. Some of our dreams are in the Lords hands.

Waiting

It seems like we are always waiting on the Lord for our dreams! Yes, we do what we can for the future, but sometimes it’s just a waiting game. God’s timing is perfect so, we don’t mind the wait! His ways are higher than our ways! We have gotten better at it each time we are believing Him for a dream for our life together.

Together

This is so important!! Together!! We need time alone, together, to dream and make plans for the future. Dreaming brings hope, faith rises, and we are strengthened by each other! I can’t even imagine planning my own future, and dreams, without including the most important person in my life. Together we are better, and you and your spouse are too. Don’t let the world, nay sayers, bitter people, and society tell you, you are better alone.

Connecting

When you dream together, you are connecting in an intimate way, that no one else gets to do. If you are not implementing this into your marriage, be warned, someone else might. If you take your marriage for granted, and don’t connect on a regular basis, an enemy may come in and steal your blessing. We all need to connect, it’s like the air we breathe, we need love, companionship, and connection. So don’t let anyone take your rightful place.

Vows

When you said I do, you took a vow before God and man that you would be faithful. This was your dream, to marry your spouse, to love them, take care of them, to spend a lifetime with them. If you don’t keep dreaming together your vows become just another word you spoke for the moment. Remember your vows, and start dreaming again. I know some dreams may have a little dust, or seem dead, but they can be revived… we just have to want it.

Prayer

Our prayer for you today is to see your spouse the way you did when you first met, while you were day dreaming of your future together, and when you first set your heart to vow your love for them through any trial. Pray that you can sit together and reconnect if need be, and dream a little dream for your marriage! God has a new chapter to write if you will let Him… so do what it takes today to push past all the challenges and see your dreams become part of your story.

Scriptures

Monday: Amos 3:3 says, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” Praying today for unity in your marriage, to walk side by side in the same direction.

Tuesday: Genesis 12:1-2 says, “Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:” Abram followed the Lord along with his wife Sarai, a dream that God put in his heart. They had a dream in front of them for their marriage!

Wednesday: Genesis 21:5 says, “And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him.” Reality set in when they physically were to old to conceive and bare children. But God… Praying you don’t give up when reality looks you square in the eyes, instead, pray and trust the Lord!

Thursday: Isaiah 40:31 says, “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Waiting is part of life, so if your dreams together seem like they are afar off, pray today God helps you to wait, because when you do you will be strengthened.

Friday: Ecclesiastes 4:9 says, “Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.” When you build a life together, dream together, and labour together, you will have a good reward! Pray today that you see God’s best way! Together.

Saturday: 1 Corinthians 7:5 says, “Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.” This scripture talks of connecting in the most intimate way, but if you aren’t connecting in dreams for your future you are defrauding one another as well. Pray you see the importance for connecting on an intimate level of hopes and dreams.

Sunday: Colossians 3:14 says, “And above all these things put on charity(love), which is the bond of perfectness.” A vow was made on your wedding day, to love your spouse, and when you start to dream together again, you see the love you had start to bloom again. It binds us together in unity! Pray for a unified marriage today!
