Festive Love

Tis The Season

The holiday season is upon us, and everyone is starting to celebrate! There are many of my friends who have already decorated for Christmas and Thanksgiving is still 3 weeks away! My husband and I get a real tree for Christmas the weekend before Thanksgiving, it’s been a tradition for all of our married life! We love picking out a Fraser Fir, they smell amazing and their needles are soft! The reason we actually wait so long is that they don’t get them in until the weekend before, otherwise, we would put it up at the beginning of November! It starts our season off right with festive love!

Festive

Have you noticed, people who may never decorate or show a lot of excitement, become festive around the holidays? There is something about this time of year that seems to bring out the best in us! We get to decorate, make meals that we usually only make once a year, and see family that we don’t see that often. It’s a time to be festive! Festive in the dictionary means something for a party, or cheerful or celebration! We love to celebrate, we have a lot more cheer, and most people look for any reason to get together!

Celebrate

Celebrate means to observe with ceremonies of respect, festivity, or rejoicing, to perform a ceremony, or to make widely known, to display. When it comes to marriage do you celebrate your spouse? What about making your marriage a festive celebration? How different would our marriages be if we looked at them as a way to celebrate, to respect, make festive, rejoice in, make widely known, to display for all to see! I know we love to display the wedding day, but what about celebrating the moment each day you have together?

Preparation

How do you prepare for a party? Most make a list, shop, clean their home, turn on some music, maybe plan some games, and when the guests come in, we are ready to have some fun!! To make the most of your marriage and to celebrate it with a festive love we have to plan to make it that way! It takes some time to think of how we can have more fun together! Plan to do something this week with your spouse you don’t usually do. Make it a celebration! Festive love can happen when we find things to do that make us laugh, create excitement, and bring back a spark to our marriage!

A Spark

Smokey the bear lets us know that an ember from a wildfire can travel for over a mile! Think about that for a minute! A spark can create fire, and that fire can travel a long distance to create a fire! Even on what seems to be a dry and dead terrain, a spark can create fire that can create a wildfire! When your marriage seems dry, dead, and their seems like nothing is left, remember just a spark can create immense heat, when it touches that dry ground! Your marriage may just be that dead environment for a wildfire of festive love. You could do one thing that sets it aflame!

Creating An Atmosphere

What one thing could you do this week that could start the fire rolling? First, create an atmosphere for love! Make your home, a night at a hotel, a night out for a dinner, or any location festive!! Think of things you did when you first met, take a drive and listen to some old love songs, kiss on your couch watching some hallmark movies after the kiddos go to bed, just do something! This is for the husband and the wife, you each could do something to create an atmosphere for festive love!

Miracles

Jesus first miracle happened at a wedding! Did you know that it was a festive love taking place when the God of creation stepped on the scene! He shows up when we are ready, have made preparations, sparked some love, and created an atmosphere! Did you know He cares about your marriage? Jesus actually cares about your marriage more than you do! He knows it represents His love for His church!! So when the One who created the heavens and the earth sees a couple who is wanting a good marriage and works on creating a festive love in their relationship He is right there waiting to perform miracles!! He can and will do it for you too!!

Prayer

Our prayer for you this week is that you look for ways to have a festive love in your marriage! Write down some ideas and make it happen! It doesn’t have to be expensive!! You can just make it festive and fun!! Praying you laugh and love one another like you did when you first said I do, and allow God to be the one who blesses it with miracles!!

Scriptures

Monday: Galatians 4:10 says, “You observe days and months and seasons and years.” The season to celebrate is here! Pray you focus on spending time with the one you love!

Tuesday: Psalm 118:24 says, “This is the day which the LORD has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it.” God made each day so lets make them festive with our spouse!

Wednesday: Luke 15:23 says, “and bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let us eat and celebrate;” This is part of the story of the prodigal son who came home and they celebrated! Why not celebrate when you and your spouse make up after an argument!

Thursday: Luke 14:16 says, “Jesus replied with this story: “A man prepared a great feast and sent out many invitations.” When we make preparations for celebrating with our spouse we say, “You are important to me!” Do it with love.

Friday: Mark 10:9 says, “Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” God can keep and restore any marriage! It just takes a spark!!

Saturday: Psalm 16:11 says, “You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.” Do you want to have an atmosphere for love in our home? You will put an altar there first! If you want festive love in your marriage you will seek to have Gods presence first!!

Sunday: John 2:1-3 says, “And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.” The next thing you know they had the best wine because Jesus showed up! Pray for miracles in your marriage!
