Gifts To Give

Gift Giving

This is the week of Christmas!! Most of us have all of our shopping done! Some have a few things left, and some haven’t even begun. We only have 2 days until Christmas, and the rush is on for the perfect and final gifts! I know I love to give gifts!! Watching their face as they unwrap a gift you put time and love into, it is so fun!! Gift giving isn’t everyones love language, but I would say most like to receive gifts at Christmas! Marriage is full of opportunities to give gifts to your spouse! What ways can you give?

Receiving

I don’t know to many people who don’t like a free gift!! Most things in this world are not free, if it says free, it usually comes with strings attached, and I am not talking about strings wrapped around it. But at Christmas time, most will expect that a family member, loved one, and especially a spouse will be giving us a gift of some sort! It’s fun to receive! When you do receive a gift from your spouse be sure to be excited, and appreciate all they have done.

Buying

If your love language happens to be gifts, you most likely like to give gifts as well as receive them!! Receiving gifts is not my primary or secondary love language, but, I do love giving and receiving gifts!! I am not one to spend a lot of money, but I do love finding a great deal when buying a gift for my husband, family, or friends!! Buying in marriage is fun, but it’s always wise to do it with a budget and in moderation!

Wrapping

Once you find the perfect gift for your spouse, you will find it is more exciting to wrap that gift up! All of the treasures of the earth have to be uncovered!! So wrapping a gift for your spouse and family says I felt it was important to make it a surprise! Some say they don’t like surprises, but I’ve never seen someone turn down a wrapped gift. If anything they get a little smile, curiosity, and sparkle in their eyes!! Marriage is all about surprises and gifts to be unwrapped through the years! Fun and surprises go hand in hand!

Purpose

I know it is fun to talk about material gifts, but there is more to your marriage than the material things we give and receive! There is a purpose to your marriage, and the gift is finding what you two will do and become as you walk through this life together! Where do we start figuring out our purpose together? We do it by seeking the Lord! Finding the specific purpose for your marriage is a great gift!! One you give to each other over and over again!!

Spiritual Gifts

The Bible speaks of spiritual gifts in several books of the bible. It is full of gifts that we can seek after, pray for, and walk in! Our lives can be exciting and we can see Gods kingdom revealed as we are willing to be used! When you receive the Holy Ghost as written in the book of Acts, you can pray for these gifts and they can be bestowed on you!! When you unite as a couple, you will see the purpose He has revealed to you fulfilled!! Watch and see as God starts to do miracles as you dig for these Spiritual Gifts!

Gifts For A King

Open the book of Matthew. You see the account of Jesus birth, and you also see wise men, who searched for Jesus, and brought him their gifts! Knowing you never go before a King without bringing Him a gift they brought Him their best, their sacrifice, their treasure!!! When they got into His presence the wise men were ready with usable gifts! Mary and Joseph fled from King Herod, they weren’t prepared for another journey, to live somewhere else, and certainly not to do it with a new baby. God in His all knowing power, sent those who were willing to sacrifice and give!! Gold was of great value and given to kings. Frankincence was used as incense for sacrifice. Myrrh was an oil used to anoint a high priest! I love that they knew they were visiting a King and came prepared with gifts ready to be used! Gold could have been used to buy things they needed, frankincense could’ve been used to give a sacrifice, and myrrh could’ve been used as an oil for its medicinal properties. When we give God our best He will help us with our marriage journey! So bring your gifts!!!

Prayer

Our prayer for your marriage is that you learn to give! Give your spouse your time, your love, your respect, your treasures!! Be ready with all that you have to offer daily to your marriage! Start with giving your gifts to the Lord! As you grow together as one, find your purpose, dig deep, and use your best for God’s kingdom!! God will help you and give you all you need along the way! He even has surprises that you can unwrap and use!!

Scripture

Monday: Luke 6:38 says, “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” Giving is God’s heart!! You can’t out give God, and your marriage needs your giving heart!

Tuesday: Mark 11:24 says, “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” Being on the receiving end is nice, it is a blessing, and it can be easy. Learning to receive a gift is important, just like having faith to receive from God!! So learn to receive gifts from your spouse with gratitude.

Wednesday: 1 Timothy 6:10 says, “For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” Be careful when spending, pray over this scripture, and learn to do so as a sober christian, not getting carried away with loving money and all you can buy with it.

Thursday: Proverbs 25:2 says, “It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.” This is one of my favorite scriptures!! When we want to know the hidden treasures of great worth we have to search it out!! So look for the wrapped gifts waiting to be discovered in your marriage and in God!!

Friday: Isaiah 14:26 says, “This [is] the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth: and this [is] the hand that is stretched out upon all the nations.” Pray God reveal His purpose for you in your marriage!!

Saturday: 1 Corinthians 12. Read the whole chapter!! Pray and desire the best gifts and watch God do miracles in your marriage and life!!

Sunday: Matthew 2:10-11 says, “When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.” Now that the Lord has blessed you and your spouse be willing to give back to him the gifts that can be used in His kingdom. In doing so along side of your spouse you will strengthen your marriage as well.
