Preparing For The Inevitable

Preparing For The Inevitable

Preparing for the inevitable is something we do when we know, something is going to happen! But this blog today is about Faith!! God wants us, His children, to walk by faith and not by sight. So in order for us to follow His word we must act on what He has spoken before it has happened. He has been speaking to me lately about acting as if it is already done!! This isn’t an easy thing to do… it involves surrender, complete surrender, and faith!

Surrendering To His Promises

Surrendering to His promises that He has given takes a key ingredient: Faith. When you believe God for things He has spoken, promised, and put in your heart, it takes faith. It also takes surrender. God asked many of His people all throughout the bible to do things that seemed silly, not practical, some would even say “overboard”, or radical. But those who believed Him, and surrendered and acted on what He put in their hearts to do, were so blessed!!

Noahs Ark

Yes, Noah was one example in the bible who surrendered to the will of God, and acted. He built an ark, a big boat, and preached repentance to a generation who lived their own lives, did their own thing and had never seen rain. He preached God’s destruction with a flood that would come from rains that would fill the earth. He prepared for the inevitable. He prepared for something He knew was true, without ever seeing a hint that it was true.

Many Greats

Many great men and women in the bible had promises, with nothing to base them on, other than God spoke to them. But they got busy, preparing for the inevitable, from Joshua and the Israelites marching around the walls of Jericho, not speaking a word for 7 days and believing God for the walls to fall and to take the city, David preparing for a temple for the Lord, gathering supplies, he himself would never see, to prophets who would hear the Lord, who did many things that looked silly or foolish to warn God’s people, but they came to pass because they believed and acted!

The Inevitable

The word, Inevitable, in the dictionary means: certain to happen, unavoidable. Some synonyms are: Imminent, impending, undeniable, decreed, destined, determined, fated, certain, foreordained, ordained, sure, unalterable. These words cause faith to rise in me! When God makes a promise, He can’t lie, He doesn’t go back on His word. He is Faithful. So when God tells us to act as if.. He is saying it is inevitable, it is sure, it is ordained. It will line up with His word.

Exceptions

Some promises in God’s word were going to happen no matter what, and some had exceptions. Some promises were, “if you do this, I will do this.” Most had to do with our faith in action. So, when we completely surrender to God, to His will, if it lines up with His word, and we act in faith, we can be sure God will come through! We don’t have to doubt, we can know, God IS FAITHFUL!

Marriage And Faith

What does this have to do with our marriage? Well, I’m glad you asked? I am excited to tell you, this applies to your marriage as well! Every area of your life can be blessed by believing the word of God and acting in faith!! If you are praying and believing God for miracles in your marriage, from reconciliation, to peace in your home, to a child coming home from the world, to believing God for children He promised. God Can Do Anything! We have to just see if it lines up with His word and act!

What Does This Look Like

Acting in Faith is different for everyone because it depends on the situation. If you are praying for your marriage to be restored, then start acting as if things are already better, plan a date, and surprise your spouse. Treat them like the person you fell in love with instead of focusing on the problems you see. Start your day with a meaningful, “I love you” instead of “come on, we have a lot to do today.”  We can change the atmosphere of our marriage by our words, by acting in faith God is going to restore.

The Father

In the story of the prodigal child, we see the Father was waiting, working, and keeping the house. When His son returned, He already had on hand a robe, a ring, and a fatted calf to celebrate! His heart was full of mercy and forgiveness. He had his house in order, working, and a heart of expectation. He was preparing for the inevitable!! He knew prayer, and preparation go hand in hand.

A Promised Child

This story happens over and over in the scriptures.  A woman is barren, her womb is shut up by God, and the husband and wife pray. When God opens the womb of the barren one, they have great joy! But God expects us to believe it and live with expectancy. This is his way of teaching us to live expecting Him to do the miraculous in our lives!

Hannah

Hannah was of a sorrowful spirit, and wouldn’t  eat or drink. She could barley pray anymore as she was poured out before the Lord. The priest Eli prayed for her and spoke for God to grant her the petition she had asked. The Bible says, “She said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad.” She believed and acted! She went her way, ate, believed with joy,(her countenance changed), and worshipped the Lord! She acted on what she knew before she conceived!

God Of The Miraculous

The God of the miraculous still lives today! He still restores broken marriages, brings children who have left this great truth home, and gives new life to those who were barren. What can you do today that says, “I believe what God spoke!” I know their is a timing for everything, and yes there are even some exceptions that we must follow, but I know God’s word is true and He is Faithful! How can you and your spouse do things to prepare for what the Lord has promised?

Challenge

We challenge you today to do something to say I believe God for the miracles He has promised! Buy something for the babies he has promised. It may be years before it happens, but don’t doubt, just pray over those promises! Ask God for a vision of your lost child, home, restored, serving God. Ask God to show you how to love your spouse, to see them through His eyes, and to act accordingly. To, by faith, plan your next big anniversary. To see you both there, holding each other, celebrating the marriage God put together, with all your friends and family!! God can do anything!! You too can have a happily ever married!!

Scriptures

Monday: Romans 4:17 says, “(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.” Read Romans 4 and pray over this scripture, who being old believed God and called things out which hadn’t happened yet as though it already had. He spoke faith! Speak faith today into your situation!!

Tuesday: Hebrews 11:1 says, Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” This is one of my favorite scriptures! Pray for God to help you to believe for things hoped for that aren’t seen yet in your marriage or life!

Wednesday: Hebrews 11:7 says, “By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.” This is a perfect picture of preparing for the inevitable! Pray God help you to trust God in any situation and act with faith!! Noah became an heir of righteousness because he moved with faith!

Thursday: James 2:20 says, “But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?” IF we say we have faith in vain we are just speaking words that fall to the ground, but faith with works is faith in action. Pray today God will help you to act with faith! That sometimes there is exceptions to His promises of what we must do first in order to see!

Friday: Luke 15:22-24 says, “But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: For this my son was dead, and alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.” I love the picture of the Father ready and waiting for His son to return! He was prepared for the inevitable!

Saturday: 1 Samuel 1:18 says, “And she said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad.” She believed and acted, she changed her whole outlook, and prepared for the inevitable!

Sunday: Matthew 19:26 says, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” This is talking about Abraham and Sarah having a baby, their promised child, after the age of chid bearing years. God can do anything! Speak and quote this scripture over your marriage or situation!! God is faithful!

Prayer

In the name of Jesus, right now we pray, for love to abound, for peace that surpasses understanding, for faith to act, to prepare for the inevitable, to get a vision of His promises for your life and marriage to come to pass! To believe and act without seeing, even when things look bad, for you to move with love, and to surrender to His word and will!! Thank you for investing in your marriage!!
