Purpose In My Marriage

Seasons

Today is the first day of Fall!! It is a season change!! A plan God gives us for a different time in life. Seasons keep us on track with the plan of God. We live in time so that we can have the ability to set goals, track progress, and to know when to plow, to plant, to water, to harvest, and to rest. In marriage we also have seasons that come and go, that are times of digging it out, sowing, watering, reaping, and resting.

What Season Are You In?

In your life and marriage, you are in a season. You may be in different seasons personally, but the same season in marriage. One of you could be personally going through a trial, but both of you are going through the struggle together. The more you become one, the more you will be in tune with each others season. Your season reveals your purpose for that time. Purpose is what you are supposed to be doing at that moment. Your purpose is what you are called to do!

Purpose

What is your purpose? How can you know the purpose for your marriage?Maybe you are experiencing a time of winter, and you don’t really know where to go, and what to do? You may be sad, cold, uninspired, and feeling like you are in a season where you don’t hear the voice of the Lord. Seek Him! He will show you His purpose as you spend time with Him in prayer. We know we can find His purpose in the word of God. If its a winter season, we may be just resting and allowing God to refuel us in our marriage. God’s purpose for our marriage in each season moves us toward His ultimate plan.

The Plan

God reveals His plan little by little sometimes, and other times He shows you a bigger portion of the plan. In the word there is a purpose and a plan for our lives. We have to wait on the Lord to know the plan He has for us and our marriage. He orders our steps and directs our paths! The plan of God is for all to be saved! Your purpose in that plan may be for you to help at a church, to love on a new family, to go to a new city, or possibly a new country. Your marriage is a representation of His plan of the Bridegroom and the Bride, His church.

The Path

God is so good to direct our paths! He will never lead you where He isn’t right there beside you. The path He has you on to reach your purpose, probably doesn’t look like what you would think. It may look like you are going the opposite way of what He gave you a glimpse of, but if you will trust Him, in due time He will line up all of those steps to create the path He has had you on all along. He loves you too much to lead you down a path He won’t protect and provide for you on. What path does the Lord have you on? Is it His path or your own?

Next Steps

When God puts you on a path, and leading you towards your purpose, He will always give you the next step. We as the follower, have to listen, wait, and be ready to say yes! His next step may be one that you don’t take for a long time. Or it may seem to happen overnight! There are dreams, plans, and goals, we have, but we have learned to walk by faith and wait until He unveils that next step. Living this way, walking by faith, is really just trusting God to show you that next step to bring you to the dream or purpose that He has for you. So what is that next step in your marriage together?

Open Doors

We were recently told, “When God opens the door, it won’t be shut!” This is our hope and prayer! WE have waited patiently, (or tried), for those open doors that only God can open!! It is so exciting to see what unfolds before us as God, the Author, writes the story of our marriage and life! We are the paper that is willing to be written on, to be directed, as the Lord pens the next open door to fulfill the purpose of our lives!!!!

Prayers

Our prayers for you as you read each scripture and apply it is that you will move together toward your purpose in marriage! To represent His love for the lost, to see them forever with Him for eternity. Praying today that you would follow hard after the things of God, to wait patiently for open doors, and for the plan and purpose of God!!

Scriptures

Monday: Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:” Pray God reveals the season you are in together and help each other through it!!

Tuesday: Ecclesiastes 3:2-8 says, “A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.” Become one in each season of life as God leads you to your purpose.

Wednesday: 1 Thessalonians 5:24 says, “Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.” It doesn’t matter what season you are in in marriage, if He called you He is faithful to bring you into it!! Thank Him today for His faithfulness!!!

Thursday: Isaiah 14:27 says, “For the LORD of hosts has planned, and who can frustrate it? And as for His stretched-out hand, who can turn it back?” The Lords plan will be fulfilled because He is God. Rest assured in His sovereignty.

Friday: Proverbs 3:6 says, “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Look to Him in everything!! He will direct your paths!!

Saturday: Psalm 37:23 says, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” When we obey His word and follow His leading Jesus will order our steps!!

Sunday: Revelation 3:8 says, “I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.” Praying today you wait patiently on the Lord to the next open door for you and your spouse!
