What You Plant Will Grow

Planting Season

As we enter planting season here in Indiana, we usually see the farmers start to come out and plow up the ground that is now starting to soften, and some are finishing up planting at this time.  In Indiana this year it’s been flooding and raining a lot, so this has slowed and even stopped the process.

The Process

There is a process that is followed when planting seed, and what you plant will grow… so know what you are about to put in the ground.  You have to know your season, the atmosphere, and the conditions have to be right to plant seed.  It’s all apart of the process! We will follow the same process in marriage, we will enter into new seasons, and we need to be aware of the atmosphere and conditions!

Growth

As the summer comes and we endure it’s radiant heat, we will see our seed start to grow. That seed first has to die, then breaks through and as water, and good soil are present it starts to grow!  It also needs a lot of sunshine.. but if water is absent, and there is a drought, that seed you plant will wither up and die.  You have to be aware of the season you are in and know what you planted.  When growth happens in marriage, it’s never easy, there has to be a lot of dying, and then lots of love, and watering of the word!

What Did You Plant?

If you are a farmer you know if you plant corn, you will get corn at the end of the season. Planting fruit trees on the other hand, takes many seasons, and you will still have a fruit tree at the end of that season if you take care, follow the process, and give it what it needs to thrive.  What did you plant in your marriage today?  Was it love, or hate? Forgiveness or unforgiveness?

Gods View

What does God say about planting?  Jesus speaks about many things in regards to sowing and reaping.  He talks about making sure it’s in good ground, you can’t reap what you haven’t sown, if you sow sparingly, you will reap sparingly.  If you so tears you will reap joy, and then warns if you sow to the flesh you will reap corruption, but if you sow to the spirit you will reap life everlasting!

You Can Start Today

What do you need more of in your marriage?  Even if your not sure, you can start with the basics!  Plant today!  Plant love, peace, joy, laughter, and forgiveness to start!  You will be amazed of the fruit it bears!  Being careful, when you sow to the flesh, it says you will yield corruption, it is what you planted, but you don’t know what that corruption looks like.  It could be an affair, death, murder, any number of things that kills your marriage.  Remember to sow to the Spirit!!

Prayer

Our prayer for you today is that you start wherever you are in your marriage, and plant something good!  Work on getting the atmosphere and conditions right, and pour out some warm sunshine, and water it with the word!  You can start new today, whatever the season and grow a marriage that is blessed with good fruit!!
