2020 And Vision

20/20 Vision

When people say they have 20/20 vision, they are really saying I have perfect eyesight or vision. The real definition of 20/20 vision is: a term used to express normal visual acuity (the clarity or sharpness of vision) measured at a distance of 20 feet. It doesn’t mean you can see as far as possible, it just means you can see a good way in to the distance and it is clear. In marriage you may not always know what’s ahead, but you can pray for clarity and by reading His word.

Hindsight

Have you heard the saying, “Hindsight is 20/20?” This expression is used when you make a mistake and realize you should have known better, or you should have done something else. If you knew the outcome, you would have done it differently. Wouldn’t it be nice to know what is going to happen before you make a big decision? People spend billions of dollars each year consulting fake, false, and demonic fortune tellers, tarot cards, horoscopes, and the like, trying to figure out what their future holds. None of this works for your marriage or future.

The Future

We may not always know what the future holds, but if you know the Lord, you know Who holds your future!! When we look to the future we want to look with expectancy, hope, and excitement! Why not? Some choose to always see the down side of everything, they complain, and are stuck in the thinking, “nothing will ever get better.” When you have vision, you won’t see that way, you will see through eyes of clarity and a favorable perception! Marriages will always fail without vision.

The Past

It’s good to reflect on the past before you enter into the future. This new year is 2020, so before we enter into another year, we should reflect! Reflect on your marriage, your goals, what were your successes, and failures, where did you grow, and where did you stop growing? Write it down, pray over it and throw it away! It’s in the past and you can’t change it. After this is done write down your goals and hopes for the new year, make a plan, and go after it! Passion is what draws us to vision!!

Write The Vision

The word of God tells us to write the vision and make it plain, so he who reads it can run with it! My husband and I always take a couple of days before the beginning of the year, or maybe even during the month of December, and we think about and pray over what it is God wants for us this next year! We seek, pray, knock, listen, and write it down. We need this to guide us and lead us for a better future! Jesus can show you portions of what it will look like when you seek Him!! He can and will lead you and guide you as you listen, obey, and follow!

Marriage

Our marriage is the most important relationship we have next to our relationship with God, so we don’t just write personal and financial goals, we write down marriage goals too! How can we make our marriage better? What ways can we build on the foundation that is set, and how can we help our spouse to achieve their personal goals? We also write down our goals for our life, our home, family and ministry. We do this together and we do it with expectancy!!

What Is Your Vision

What is your vision? Are you dreaming for this next year? Maybe its apart of a bigger goal that is a 5 or 10 year goal. Looking ahead and planning is a great way to start this new year. We can make plans, and that is good, but the Lord orders our steps!! This all starts at the beginning, which is our walk with God. We start with our daily bible reading, prayer, and fasting. My husband and I write down ways to draw closer to God and then we put those first. We always start the year with a seven day fast, where we kill our flesh, draw closer to God and see Him do miracles!! It is so exciting each new year as we look with expectation about what God is about to do!!

Prayer

Our prayer for you this week as we begin a new year and decade, is that you sharpen your vision with a time of prayer and fasting, repentance, and seeking the Lord Jesus! We are praying over you that God would open your spiritual eyes to give you a glimpse into the future of this next year!! He will!! He is faithful! Reflecting on all He has done for you this last year with a grateful heart!!

Scriptures

Monday: Psalm 119:18 says, “Open my eyes, that I may behold Wonderful things from Your law.” Pray the Lord opens your eyes to His Law!

Tuesday: 1 Samuel 28:7 says, “Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and inquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor.” I’m sure Saul wishes he had made different choices but instead of seeking God and forgiveness he sought out a witch. This will never turn out for any of Gods people, and it’s not an answer for your marriage.

Wednesday: 1 Corinthians 13:12 says, “For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.” Pray the Lord shows you the parts of your future He wants you to know!

Thursday: Habakkuk 2:2 says, “And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.” Pray as you reflect on this year that the Lord will show you where you need to grow, write it down, and run with it in your marriage!

Friday: Habakkuk 2:3 says, “For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” If He spoke it then trust the Lord in His timing it will happen! Pray that God would increase your faith!

Saturday: Proverbs 16:9 says, “A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.” Plan but know God will direct! Pray over these things you write down together and follow the leading of the Lord!

Sunday: Psalm 37:23 says, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” God will order your steps so pray with expectation!!
