Easter: It All Happens At The Well

Easter Week

We are once again approaching Easter this coming weekend! My thoughts turn toward Jesus’ Crucifixion, Burial, and Resurrection. Palm Sunday just passed where He made His triumphant entry into Jerusalem where He was loved by many. Through the week of His Passion there was a call for Him to be crucified and Jesus was hated by many. As I prayed about this post and how we can relate the Word to our daily lives in this season, I think about how He is the living water. Water is our life source, and He is the well of life! What happens at a well?

What Happens At The Well?

When you look at the wells dug in the old testament, we see Issac redigging the wells of his father Abraham. In ancient times wells were dug, and lives were lived around that source of water. We are the same today. When a person purchases a piece of land that doesn’t already have city water, they dig a well. Either way they have to have a source of water to live in that area. Through out history if you couldn’t find water, you couldn’t thrive on that land. You needed water to live, to farm, to really do anything. Water is something we just can’t live without.

Living Without

Too many today do live, or rather survive on little to no water. Not physical water though, if we don’t have water physically we will die. But many live on other sources of drinks: pop, milk, juices, etc. So, they are technically getting some form of water. They are also being left depleted of much needed nutrients and are sick. We are made up of mostly water, so we need water to function correctly. Water is a type of what we need and fill up on to live.

Other Sources

We sometimes fill our lives with other sources. Consider what you consume on a daily basis; news, social media, entertainment, work, family time, sports events, etc. What other sources take you away from the living source that you need. Jesus is the living water, and without Him we start to get sick and malnourished. Ask yourself this question? When did it become ok to not center our lives around the only water that can give us eternal life? Is it ok to just fill our bodies with other sources? This will start to take a toll on you if you don’t get what is needed to be healthy physically and spiritually.

Spiritually

When I look at the word of God, from Genesis to Revelation, we see that Jesus, the Living Water, is a must to survive. In Revelation 7:17 it says, “For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters:” We have to have this spiritual water of Jesus or we will not have eternal life. If we keep the order of God, after we get our life in order with God, we then need to find order in our marriage. How does this apply to my marriage?

Marriage And The Well

In marriage it is pivotal to base it around the well. Proverbs 5:15-18 says, “Drink water from your own cistern, running water from your own well. Should your springs overflow in the streets, your streams of water in the public squares? Let them be yours alone, never to be shared with strangers. May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth. This refers to only having one wife and not getting fulfillment from another source. It all comes down to building your life around the well and having order. If you put God first, then this scripture is just a boundary to keep, because you already know there is a well in your home that is all you need.

So What Happened?

You don’t see a well mentioned in the last week of His life. He prayed, died to His flesh, and then willingly laid down His life for us. Why? So we could partake in the living waters every day. We get to enjoy the source of life daily because of His resurrection! We can have this in our life, marriage, and family if we center our lives around the well. Living well at the well! It’s the only way to truly have life everlasting!!! So pray today that you dig a well in your home and keep it for all generations to follow until the Lord returns. His Resurrection is that living water, He says that out of your bellies shall flow rivers of living water!! When we have our own personal Pentecost, we have His resurrection power living in us!!

Prayer

Our prayer for you this week is, as you think about His death, and His burial, that you don’t forget why He was Resurrected!! It was so we all could partake in the Living Waters He so freely give to all who ask! We can have that resurrection power daily in our lives, that flows down to our marriages and families!!

Scriptures

Monday: John 4:10 says, “Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.” Praying today to know Him as our source!

Tuesday: Genesis 26:18 says, “And Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged in the days of Abraham his father; for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham: and he called their names after the names by which his father had called them.” Isaac saw the importance of the well in his life. He had to fight for the land his father had first claimed by digging again the wells that his father had dug to sustain his people.

Wednesday: John 4:14 says, “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” Praying today we see the importance of Jesus as our source!

Thursday: 1 Corinthians 6:20 says, “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” Pray that you keep in mind the price God paid and that you are good to your body physically and spiritually.

Friday: John 7:38 says, “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” Here on this earth we can have the living water flow out of our bellies as we receive the Holy Ghost! Pray today you see it in His word and ask Him for it! Its a promise for you today!

Saturday: Isaiah 12:3 says, “Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.” When you have Jesus as your source of life, your marriage will be blessed too!!

Sunday: Romans 8:11 says, “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.” Pray today God fill you with His Spirit!!
