Lies Of The Enemy

Steal

The devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy. When you put this into perspective of your marriage it can look like many different things. One thing it can look like is stealing time. Time is precious in your marriage. You may have little time together and it is the little foxes that spoil the vine. It can be work, kids, hobbies, sports, gaming, friends, or just anything that comes between you and your spouse. A lie we sometimes believe is that we have all the time in the world to make it up to our spouse.

Kill

What is killing your marriage? It can be words, actions, inaction, busyness, an emotional or physical affair. The devil isn’t playing around, he wants to kill your marriage. Any open door he can find he will walk through. Death comes in many forms when it comes to your marriage. It could be the death of your feelings toward one another, death of love, death of trust. Another lie we can believe is that a little white lie will never hurt.

Destroy

What happens after the devil steals from your marriage, and kills the last bit of hope? He comes to destroy it. Satan will not only try and get you to get a divorce, but will come to utterly destroy every part of your life. Your self esteem, your children, your family relationships, and finally your relationship and trust in God. He wants you to be lost. The devil is set to swallow up all you have and leave you with nothing. To be forever wondering what happened? Lies we believe in times of trouble in our marriage are, “Everything will be better when this is over.” There is Hope!

Hope

John 10:10 has another part to the verse, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” Jesus is our Hope!! He is our strength and will carry us through any rough or even life altering moments in our marriage. When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Lord says He will lift up a standard against him. I see this as hope many times in my life. When you feel like all is lost, hope brings you through. Why? Because Jesus gives us life!

Life

Jesus came to give us life!! “Life is what you make it,” is a saying you may hear. The life we are talking about is not just about what you make it, it’s about having freedom from sin, and the opportunity to live in heaven forever with our Savior. Also, he wants us to have true freedom here as well. Life more abundantly.

Abundantly

When we think of abundance we think of an overflow. Not just enough but excess. I’m not talking about money, or things, I’m talking about a marriage and life that’s overflowing with blessings!! You can still have hard times, sorrow, death, tradgedy, and in the mist of all of that you can still have abundance. “Abundance of what?” you may ask. Joy unspeakable, peace that surpasses understanding, and so much more! God’s blessings are meant to add to His glory! We have it backwards here on earth and always want to add to our glory. But when we get it right, our life is overflowing with abundant life!!

Grateful

Gratefulness is an attribute to be acquired! When you are truly grateful, you aren’t always looking for something, or someone to fill you up. Having a grateful heart means abundant living is ours for the taking. Have you ever noticed those who complain all the time are never satisfied with any good thing? They never will be, and in turn are living the first part of John 10:10. They don’t guard their hearts, their doors, ears, or lips and satan has a heyday with them. Becoming grateful is one of the keys to having an abundant marriage. You aren’t always looking for greener pastures. Pray today that God would help you to be grateful and have an abundant marriage. Ask the Lord to help you guard your hearts against the enemy of your soul. Pray you would no longer believe the lies of the enemy.
