Spiritually Awake

Living In The Flesh

When it comes to living in this life we all have flesh, the carnal mind, that we deal with. In marriage it’s no different. We can walk around oblivious to all that is really going on around us. We can walk in the flesh, be selfish, demand our way, create chaos, only see our wants and needs or as the Bible says we can walk in the Spirit, that we don’t fulfill the lusts of the flesh.

Walking In The Spirit

When the Bible speaks of walking in the Spirit, it is talking about spiritual things. To follow God is we must know who He is.. He is a Spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and Truth. To know Him we must be filled with His Spirit. When we learn to discern what is going on in the natural world and in the Spirit world, this isn’t spooky, it’s the word of God. When we do this, there is an action following.. we will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.

The Lusts Of The Flesh

Lusts are things that entice us away from God and into sin. They hinder us and our walk with God, they ensnare us into old habits, lusts and sin. When sin comes to fruition it brings forth death. This can be anything from fornication to a half truth, which is a lie. It can be to get what we want, or to fulfill our desires that are sensual or earthly.

In My Marriage

Where does this come into play with my marriage? It comes in as a selfish thought and motive, that turns into actions that manipulate or cause harm for your gain. We love to feel good, and we hate to feel bad. We love to get what we want and when we want it. We as humans hate the word no. Our flesh hates it. So in marriage, we have to learn to walk in the Spirit.

Application

We apply this word in our marriage by praying, fasting, coming together in unity under God. This is a killing of the flesh in our lives and in time shows up in our marriage! We can look to God and His word to see how our marriage should mirror Christ and His bride the church. We have to be spiritual to love our spouse with the love of God and forgive with only a forgiveness that God can give.

Mercy Extended

My daily life needs God’s mercy and my marriage needs it too! Mercy for mistakes, pain, sickness, everything that would take me away from God and my marriage. This world has a god, and he is out to destroy what God says, “let no man put asunder.” So when we who are spiritual extend mercy to our spouse we are building our marriage and are becoming Spiritually Awake!

Spiritually Awake

Becoming and living Spiritually Awake, is walking in soberness of heart and mind! To walk with God daily, every minute, praying without ceasing. I guarantee you the enemy is up to the challenge of bringing down your marriage and home, so you have to put on a spiritual armor and be ready to fight those enemies of God who want to destroy your marriage! Awake oh Zion!! God is calling the church to wake up out of slumber and fight for what He has given you as a blessing!! Your marriage!

Prayer

Our prayer for you today is that your learn to become spiritual in your life and marriage, and it will run off into all other areas that are important to you! Your children, family, church, and city! Pray God leads you and pray daily that God will help you to walk in the Spirit and not fulfill the lusts of the flesh!!

Scriptures

Monday: Galatians 5:16 says, This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” Pray over and memorize this scripture to pray each day!

Tuesday: John 4:24 says, God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Know who He is by reading His word and spending time with Him in prayer!

Wednesday: James 1:14-15 says, “But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” Praying today to crucify our flesh and to draw near to the Lord!

Thursday: Philippians 2:3 says, “Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.” Praying for your spouse today and for selflessness in your marriage! Prayer is the spiritual part that we need to fight for our marriage!

Friday: 1 Thessalonians 3:12 says, “and may the Lord cause you to increase and abound in love for one another, and for all people, just as we also do for you;” Forgive over and over and abound in love with your spouse!

Saturday: 2 Corinthians 4:4 says, “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” Remember it is a spiritual battle, so we must be spiritually Awake!!

Sunday: 1 Thessalonians 5:6 says, “Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.” Awaken to the leading of Gods spirit!! Pray without ceasing!!
