What Drives You

Driving Force

We are all driven by something, the question is what are we driven by? Sometimes it’s good to self examine, and look deeper into why we do what we do. The free dictionary definition for driving force is: the main factor that causes something to happen. So what is the reason we pursue certain things, act on emotions, or become who we are?

To Name A Few

Some things that drive us in the world are career, family, insecurities, love, passion, marriage, feelings of worth, retribution, health, goals, pride, hunger, desires, desperation, acceptance, justice, a cause, anything that moves you. These are things that move us to act, or become. They can drive us for good or for bad, but they definitely are driving forces.

What Do We Do With Them

People can take their passions, desires, hurts, wounds, and they can use them to have purpose. When I was younger, I remember thinking, “I just want something to stand for.” I believe this is at the very core of who God made us, to have a purpose. Once you know your purpose or your calling, you will have a starting point. From there, you find the passion or driving force to pursue it!

Soul Searching

When we are young and even when we are old, we can start down the road of soul searching and find a reason to keep going. We may find a new hobby, a cause, a new career, really anything that feels right. When we do this we feel good for a time, and then we may be back at square one. There is a reason all of this comes to an end. Why do we need something or someone?

Gods Plan

God put it in every soul to long and to know Him, to have a relationship with Him, and to spend eternity fulfilling that. We as humans have a choice as to whether we draw close to Jesus, or whether we find something else to temporarily fill that void. If we keep Jesus at the center of our lives, all those desires and plans become His. The way we have peace is to give it all over, and let Him help us find our way and be our driving force. Living a life of faith, means letting go of the reigns!

Open Doors

God can open doors for you no man can open, and you will be amazed over and over again, if you let Him be your driving force. When we relinquish our rights, will, and feeling toward our hearts desire, He will open doors no man can shut! God puts desires, dreams, callings and passions in us for His glory. If we don’t they can be used by the enemy for our destruction. What about in marriage?

Marriage

A driving force in marriage is a good thing. We are driven to become one, to love, to endure hardships, to help each other through sickness and loss. IF God is our driving force all of these can be accomplished. When we become full of self, and push God to the side, marriages end pure and simple. God created marriage to last a lifetime, to love one another, to share this thing called life. We will all go through trials, temptations, loss, joy, pleasure, excitement, being steady, and being weak, but we can endure with Jesus at the helm!

Prayer

Our prayer for your marriage today is that you look inward and see what drives you, what is your passion, your calling, and then find out what your driving force is? Make sure you are going the same direction as Jesus and that He is your driving force. Praying for peace over your marriage, love to endure, and that you never give up!

Scriptures

Monday: Ephesians 1:11 says, “In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:” Pray God show you what drives you today and what is His will.

Tuesday: Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” We have many reason that drive us but let us line up with His word and plan.

Wednesday: Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” He has a plan and purpose for us!

Thursday: Exodus 9:16 says, “And in very deed for this [cause] have I raised thee up, for to shew [in] thee my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.” Pray today for the Lord of Glory to give you direction for your life!

Friday: Psalm 37:5 says, “Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring [it] to pass.” We can trust the master with our lives.

Saturday: Revelation 3:8 says, “I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.” Praying you allow God to open doors for you today!

Sunday: Ephesians 5:31 says, “For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.” Let God be the driving force in your marriage to help you to become one and to endure for a lifetime.
