What Helmet Are You Putting On?

What Helmet Are You Putting On?

What helmet are you putting on? On our way home from our trip the other day from West Virginia, we were enjoying the beautiful serene green hills and trees, then I looked over, and there was a man on a motorcycle. I immediately noticed his helmet. It was covered with symbols and words, they were filled with profanities and hate. He wore a helmet that represented who and what he is and believes. I felt such an anger and hatred coming from him. I saw his face and it was like one who was full of torment. How could it not be? He had covered his head and his mind spiritually, a darkness that spoke of all things evil. What a perfect picture of what our minds can look like the we are filling them with thoughts, philosophies, and ideas of this world.

The god of this world

Satan is the god of this world and he is always trying to duplicate God, but never can. He is a counterfeit of an original. One definition is something made in imitation of something else with intent to deceive. Isn’t that so true of the devil, he is always on a mission to try to deceive. Its seems like he is good at what he does, although I know counterfeits never measure up. They may fool some but not all. We have to look at an original, to see the flaws, the mistakes, and the imperfections of the counterfeit . The god of this world will never measure up the the One True God.

Closer Inspection

When we compare that of the fake to the real, or authentic, we see the truth. Upon closer inspection we can see satan is just a liar, and wants to destroy people with an illusion of worth. Those who follow his lead, only come to bondage of the mind and spirit. We will only truly find our worth when we get before the Master, Jesus! He is the One and only, the Original, there is none like Him, no not one!!

Gods Helmet

Ephesians 6:17-18 says, “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;” What a prayer we can pray for protection as we learn to use the armour of God daily!! This is only part, but we can put on our heads the helmet of salvation, to protect our head and mind, the natural and the spiritual! The helmet and the Sword which is the word of God, go hand in hand. We need to guard our minds for our salvation!! What helmet are you putting on?

Gods Word

When we use the sword, the word of God, we are washing our mind of the filth of this world! This comes from Ephesians where we are dealing with marriage again, natural and spiritual. We need to learn to marry these two ideas as we pray! We must read the word aloud to fight/war, for the washing or renewing of our minds, and also to protect our mind with the helmet of salvation. To keep us, to redeem us, so we may be with Him one day! So many thoughts can come into our head, some is from what we watch, or hear, so we need the word to cleanse us and the Spirit of God to fight for us as we speak His word.

What We Believe

We put on a helmet each day, even if its not a physical one, we are choosing to label ourselves with the god of this world, or the One true God! We are what we listen to, watch, what we allow into our homes, marriages, and lives, affects what we believe. If I fill my home, and marriage with praise, worship, sermons, the word, prayer and fasting, I can believe God for anything!! If I fill it with the noise of this world, politics, movies that are ungodly, music that promotes sensuality and rebellion, that is what my world will turn into. Be careful what you let into your home. Ask God do you want me to see or hear this. The eyes are the window to your soul, and how can you hear what the Spirit of God says, when your ears hear the music of this world, or the filth of some entertainment.

My Imagination

The word of God says take every thought captive, that means don’t let your imagination run away with your common sense. If we don’t take hold of our thoughts we can be led astray. Sin starts in the mind, we are tempted, and if we rebuke the thoughts that appeal to our flesh, we can overcome. If we don’t take those thoughts captive, we can be led into many a sin, if you entertain these thoughts, sin lies at the door of your heart. Lust conceived, brings sin, and sin when its finished with you, it brings death. My marriage is too important to not cast down vain imaginations.

Becoming Spiritual

1 Corinthians 2 is about becoming Spiritual, knowing the difference between the natural man and the spiritual man. We need to learn to put on the mind of Christ each new day. I pray it over myself, my husband, those struggling with temptations and even failures. God can transform our mind if we allow Him access. We need to draw deep from the well of Life, and dig a little deeper in our walk with Him, if we are just surface christians, we will never have all God has for us. I want more of God, His word, and His mind. When I become like Him my marriage is better, I have more joy, and I will have peace.

My Helmet

I want my helmet to represent Jesus, to fill it with His goodness, His mercy, His grace. I want all who know me to see I am covered by the Blood, having the mind of Christ, and my thoughts are ever on Him. When I do, I don’t have fear, pain of past hurts, anxiety of bills, etc, and clouding my mind and crippling my marriage. I can trust God when I pray his protection over my life and my families, with the helmet of salvation. I then, in turn have the boldness to speak the gospel as an ambassador of God to those who are hurting and in need of His touch. We are here to reach the lost!!! Our marriages are an example to the world of how to treat each other. When your marriage is protected, and your mind, then you can do all God has for you! Ask yourself, what helmet are you putting on?

Prayer

My prayer for your marriage is this, that you take the word of God, and you put on the helmet of salvation, and you see God do miracles!! He is waiting to bless you, to take you a little deeper, to see you reach the full potential He has for you!!! Praying for your mind to be restored, renewed, and full of the things of God!!

Scriptures

Monday:  2 Corinthians 4:4 says, In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” When I read this I see the mans mind blinded because his mind is covered with the things and ideas of this world. Pray today for your marriage, that you both would let the light of the gospel of Christ shine and deliver your mind from all deception. In Jesus name!

Tuesday:  Ephesians 6:17-18 says, “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;” Pray today and meditate on this scripture!

Wednesday:  Ephesians 5:26 says, “That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word;” This speaks of Christ and the church, a marriage, spiritual and natural. Please read all of Ephesians 5, and pray that you are washed by the word, as you pray, read, and speak it!!

Thursday: Ephesians 2 says, “Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:”  Read Ephesians 2:1-3. Meditate on these scriptures! The prince of the power of the air is satan, he has control over the realm of the sound waves and air above us. So what we listen to affects us, also, in the spirit realm we know there are battles going on since the fall. Pray God helps you to protect your mind, and don’t allow in your home what will cause you to be disobedient to the Lord.

Friday:  2 Corinthians 10:5 says, “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”  Pray as you read and learn this scripture that God cleanses your mind of anything that could destroy you, or your marriage. Some thoughts are not our own, some are. Learn to discern and cast them out!!

Saturday: 1 Corinthians 2, read this whole chapter, pray God help you to go deeper in His word, to become spiritual and put away carnality in your marriage. To have the mind of Christ!

Sunday:  Romans 12:2 says, And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” I love this!! Pray today your mind be renewed in your thoughts, your actions, and watch as you are transformed by the word of God!! You too can have a happilyevermarried!!
